Prestoncrest gives to needs across the world as a part of the World Care ministry. We hold a special collection on months that have a 5th Sunday and provide these funds to various needs that exist in every corner of the globe. Here are the World Care receipients for 2007.
December 30 World Care Receipients:
Solano Bible College – Daton and Jong Palitayan train preachers and other church workers in the Philippines. Daton has been a hard working evangelist for 55 years and Jong, his son, is following in the large footsteps of Daton who has, also, been a speaker for World Radio. Approximately ten preachers are graduated each year from the college in Solano. With some additional funding, more students can be trained at the college allowing other souls to be reached.
ETM – Germany – Training German ministers. The program was initiated by Jim Springer who recently passed away. Larry Sullivan and his co-workers, Steffen Pietsch and Alexander Bartsch, who work with the church in Chemnitz will continue this great work with a class in April 2008. Springer served as a missionary in Germany for over 35 years and was enervative in reaching the unchurched of Germany.
World Bible School - One of the most proven, cost-effective means of spreading the Gospel to a lost world! God uses WBS by linking a worldwide network of Christians, missionaries and churches to teach and reach truth-seekers, bringing them into God’s family. Everyday Christians of all ages-equipped with WBS correspondence courses-help teach those who want to study. Terry Brantley and Drayton Greene lead a number of Prestoncrest members who are teachers in this great outreach program.
Ivan Tesic - Zapresic, Croatia - Ivan works with the congregation that meets in this suburb of Zagreb. Ivan and his family have served in this location for many years. Ivan is active in a radio ministry that reached out to the Croatian people.
Dry Bones Ministry – Denver - In Ezekiel 37, God breathes life into dry bones. God has the power to do this in our day in Denver. Imagine entering a room where dead things come to life. That is what this ministry desires. The Dry Bones ministry seeks to build relationships with homeless teenagers of Denver, Colorado. It is estimated that of the 7,700 homeless people in Denver, more than one-third of them are young people – teens and children. Many of these teens live off the streets of downtown Denver, where they huddle in small groups looking for the peace, fulfillment and happiness that they haven’t found through drugs, sex and rough street life. The Dry Bones ministry seeks to build relationships with these teens that will lead to a new life in Jesus Christ. Dry Bones connects with these teens with physical resources, better nutrition, new friends, music, entertainment and the Gospel. Activities include a Thursday evening gathering in downtown Denver with members of nearby church youth groups. In an effort to build trust and friendships, the staff of Dry Bones often holds conversations and Bible studies with teens under a light post, on a street corner or at a coffee shop. Dry Bones has the vision for a café where music, food and inviting surroundings will provide a comfortable setting for strangers to meet and for dry bones to come to life.
