Rwanda - To influence Rwanda’s leaders with the gospel of Jesus Christ. The church has strong relationships at the highest levels of Rwanda’s governmental and educational institutions. Cabinet level officials and community leaders are members of the church, and they are being taught to lead as disciples of Jesus Christ. To provide hope and mentoring to Rwanda’s youth. CCR hosts weekly youth events that are regularly attended by 30-60 teens. To provide logistical assistance for the adoption of orphans. Church members have assisted in the adoption of eight orphaned children and have several others in process.
AMAI Orphanage in Rio -A children’s shelter which currently houses 14 beautiful children ages 2-11. The kids are usually placed in AMAI by the courts. They come from terrible home situations where the government is forced to intervene for the protection of the children. The kids are pulled out of homes where the parents are homeless (they all live on the street), or the parents are drug traffickers, or the kids have been physically abused. Lots of tough stories. The orphanage is located 10 minutes from the Victory Church and is very closely connected to the congregation. Missionary Dan Baird plays a lead role in supporting the director Leila. Church members regularly volunteer at the home. The congregation does a lot of work projects to improve the home. The kids are bussed in to worship services every week.
The needs at AMAI are huge. The physical plant is deteriorating and food is always in short supply. Often, Leila struggles to pay the workers at the home as funds run low.
