Jerry and Gail co-direct the Family Institute of Latin America, headquartered in Curitiba, Brazil. The FILA is a unique, nationwide ministry dedicated to church planting and leadership care in Latin America. The key to Church growth is planting new congregations for spreading the Gospel and sustained leadership for growing new churches.
This ministry is focused on 5 vital areas:
- Caring for American Missionaries: They assist missionaries in successful adaptation to the new culture and language. They do psychological testing and team workshops to help optimize interpersonal relationships and team functioning.
- Training Tomorrow’s Leaders Today: Jerry and Gail teach at all 4 of the major training institutes in Brazil. They teach Spiritual Growth, Counseling, Conflict Resolution, Interpersonal Relationships, and the Christian Home.
- Conflict and Crisis Intervention: Jerry and Gail bring relief and healing in emergency and conflict management situations for Churches, staffs, mission teams, and families.
- Equipping Church Leaders and Staffs: The FILA sponsors weekend spiritual renewal retreats for staffs of local congregations.
- Forming National Mission Teams: The FILA works in conjunction with US and Brazilian Churches, the Continent of Great Cities, and 4 Brazilian Preacher’s Institutes to form and equip Brazilian Church planting teams.
Jerry serves as Evangelist at the Curitiba congregation, which was planted 15 years ago and has 250 members. The Church sponsors a preacher training school and co-sponsors (in conjunction with the FILA and the Continent of Great Cities) a nationwide lectureship dedicated to Church growth.
