Vick Family Mitchell and Isobel Vick live in Stirling, Scotland where Mitchell is the minister for the Stirling Church of Christ. In 1975, Mitchell traveled to Edinburgh, Scotland to work for the summer as part of a short term mission team. More than 30 years later, Mitch is still working in his adopted country to plant and build up the Church among the Scots.Mitchell is a native of Conroe, Texas and a 1975 graduate of Abilene Christian College with a Bachelor of Arts in Bible. In 1977, he married Isobel Gardiner in Edinburgh. From 1977, until 1990, Mitchell taught and preached for the Sighthill Church of Christ in Edinburgh. In 1990 the Vicks moved to Stirling for the purpose of planting a new congregation and since that time have focused on evangelizing in and around Stirling, a city of 60,000 in Scotland’s central lowland belt. The Vicks, with their co-workers John and Irene Renwick, serve an active Church residing in Stirling and the surrounding area. The Church worship services are held in a local community center. The Stirling congregation was the first in Scotland to begin a “FriendSpeak” program. They partner with students attending Stirling University. The congregation also has an outreach to local young people through the “Tuesday Youth Club” for 9-13 year old students in the neighborhood. The winter Bible Study lectures is an annual event sponsored to make in-depth training available to the preachers and members of Scotland’s 26 congregations. Since 1990, the Church has hosted students from Harding University in summer campaigns to reach out to the entire city. The Church is presently looking for interns who can come and work in Stirling for a two year period.Mitchell has been active in community affairs by serving on the local community school board for two years. Besides Isobel’s many responsibilities for the congregation, she also works part time as a senior radiographer at the Stirling Royal Infirmary. Mitchell and Isobel have three adult children. Robin is a graduate of Harding University. He and his new wife, Chrissy, live in North Carolina. Laura is a recent graduate of Harding. Her twin sister, Hannah, graduates in May 2007 from Harding.
