Dino and Debbie Roussos live in Athens, Greece. Dino is minister for the Omonia Church of Christ in downtown Athens.During the Second World War, an American who was stationed in Greece following the German occupation, gave a Bible to Dino’s father, Anthony Roussos. Mr. Roussos read and studied the differences between the Bible and the teachings of the Greek Orthodox Church. In 1963 George Dumas went to Greece as a missionary. He did not speak Greek, so he hired Anthony to translate for him. In the process of translating, Anthony Roussos accepted the teachings, was converted and became a valuable worker in bringing Christianity to Greece. At age 17, Dino was baptized and began to preach. After attending the University of Athens for 3 years, Dino met Dr. Everett Ferguson. Dr. Ferguson, a member of the Bible faculty at ACU, was in Athens doing research and study. He encouraged Dino to attend ACU, which Dino did, earning bachelors degrees and a master’s degree. In 1974 Dino also received a Graduate Diploma for Tour Guides in Greece from the Archaeological Institute. This enabled Dino to lead Christian tours to the Biblical lands in Greece, Israel, and Turkey. While attending school in Abilene, Dino met Debbie Brown, a student from Florida. They married in 1977. They have three children. The oldest is Melody, a graduate of ACU, who is married to Andy Feekes and lives in Dallas, Texas with their one year old son. Second is Nikki, a graduate of Harding, who is married to Matt Galley and lives in Atlanta, Georgia. Third is Stephen, who is living in Abilene, Texas while studying Biology at ACU.Greece has always been a bridge between Europe, Africa and Asia — three continents that hold 2/3 of the world’s population. Because of its location, the Church in Athens has many different opportunities as well as many challenges. One such challenge is the different languages spoken by the members, therefore the worship service is conducted each week in Greek, Russian, English, and Bulgarian.During his ministry, Dino has written several books. He also has has preached in Albania, Bulgaria, Romania, and Russia as well as speaking on lectureships and at Christian universities in the USA.
