Charles & Carolyn MooreWhile attending school at David Lipscomb College in Nashville, Tennessee, Brother Batsel Barrett Baxter, his major professor, encouraged Charles and Carolyn Moore to go to Sicily to preach the Gospel. They sailed in November of 1957, and spent 21 years in the field — 12 in Sicily and 9 in Rome. While in Rome, Charles planted one congregation where he preached full time, and assisted in planting a second congregation. There are now 4 congregations of the Church of Christ in Rome.Printed page evangelism was the basis of their work. Through the power of the written word, they made contacts and followed up with personal Bible studies and preaching. Charles and Carolyn wrote and printed thousands of copies of classroom materials sent to churches all over Italy. Charles wrote and distributed books, and assisted in distributing thousands of Bibles.

Charles developed some heart problems and was required to give up his work in Italy and return to the states. Once they were settled, they began the Italian Literature Program to provide the updated Biblical materials necessary to the work there. Charles wanted to encourage and stay in contact with the Churches and preachers all over Italy, and they have done so through these printed materials for over 19 years.

Even though he can’t do so in person, Charles’ desire is to continue preaching the Word in Italy through the printed page.
