Stan Johnson
Summit County Church of Christ

Stan JohnsonStan has served as the evangelist in Frisco for the past five years. The Church is an active congregation of 66 resident members, serving the county with a population of 27,000. There have been 15 baptisms in the past five years. During the summer and winter peak vacation seasons, attendance swells to 150-200 for worship services. The congregation was planted in 1980 and has had a total of 400 members.

Outreach efforts include: Vacation Bible School, Searchers Class, Love Language Classes (offered to married couples), and Mothers of Preschoolers. Regular fellowship and the annual Fall Retreat bond the local Christians together. Members and the minister provide maintenance, snow removal, secretarial, and bookkeeping services. The building was built in 1984 and the debt was retired in 2004.

Stan grew up in Stockton, California. He earned degrees from Abilene Christian College, attended the Bible Academy in Fairfield, California, and received his M.A. from Pepperdine. Stan married Jessica Blair, and in 1980, began their 17-year work with the Medford Church of Christ in Oregon. The congregation grew from 130 to just under 400 during their stay. While in Medford, Jessica earned her counseling certification and works with Stan in marriage and family counseling. They also added five children while in Medford: two daughters — Jocelyn and Breanna — are married and live in Summit County, and three sons: Jeff and Zach live at home, and Greg is working on his degree in ministry.
