Barry Murrell

Barry Murrell and his wife, Shari, graduated from the School of World Evangelism apprentice mission and training program through the A&M Church of Christ in College Station, Texas. They spent 27 months as apprentice missionaries in Cebu City, Philippines, became full-time in1980, and have been there since. The Center and its ministry involves their children, as well: Jon Marc, Sara, Amy, and Rachael with husband, Clint.
At their Bible Study Center, they offer two programs: one for outreach, and the other for helping new Christians grow. The outreach program targets the 100,000 people living in a two mile radius of the Center. The other helps new Christians grow and become involved in the Great Commission. Both programs teach the students how to study the Bible, and help them develop study skills and regular study habits. They offer 6- week sessions six times a year, and typically have about 200 students per year.
The Murrells planted the Uptown Church of Christ the south central part of Cebu City, a city of over 3,000,000 people. They are now planting a second congregation, the Southside Church of Christ, as well. Cebu City has over 30 colleges, and they have a Bible correspondence course that targets local college students. Their Children’s Bible Program is also working to reach children in the area of the Center, with hopes to reach parents, as well.
